Sham Shui Po is one of the earliest developed area in Hong Kong. Due to its avorable geographical position and the industrial development, it turned into a dense community with unique culture. Yet, after several decades of development, Sham Shui Po District has experienced urban decay and become one of the core renewal districts.
In the past 8 years, there was about 10 renewal projects; 160 buildings have been demolished and at least 6,000 residents were involved. Last year, 3 historical buildings in the district were announced to be part of the Revitalisation Scheme. It is undoubtedly that the redevelopment and revitalisation could eventually come.
